I have to start working out

by The Diva

I have to start getting in better shape. Now that the weather is getting better I want to start getting out for a long walk every day at the very least.

Consider that I’m home on medical leave and that I suffer from chronic pain it’s hard for me to plan a regular fitness regime because I just don’t feel well every day … in fact I barely ever feel well. So … I guess I just need to plan to do something daily that I should be able to do most days even if I don’t feel all that well. I figure that if I start feeling somewhat better after I begin walking regularly I could always add more workouts to my schedule if I can handle it.

Someone told me I should think about taking optimum nutrition pro complex but I think I’ll hold off talking any supplement for now until I see if I can just stick to walking regularly and also check out supplement with my doctor.

Do you have trouble getting into a regular fitness schedule? I know it’s probably a little harder for me since I’m in chronic pain, but I have to try.

Survivor is getting interesting

by The Diva

I’m enjoying this season of Survivor (Redemption Island). We taped the show tonight and we’re just watching the final immunity challenge where the group of survivors are competing to put puzzle boards in stairs in 110 F temperatures. I’m hoping that no one has a heart attack!

Wow … Rob isn’t looking good at all is he!

It’s funny, Survivor is one of the few reality shows that I watch, but with every new season it takes me a few shows to get to know each survivor, I almost wish they’d wear name tags or something for the first few days. It would sure make it easier.

So .. do you watch Survivor? Are you excited about watching the last two shows to see who wins?

Waiting for Spring to warm up

by The Diva

I can’t believe how much rain we’ve been getting here in Toronto. It seems that every time I try to go outside with the dog it starts pouring! Oh and our dog is a Lab .. a dog that traditionally loves water, but for some reason not rain drops. Uh huh … strange dog.

When we come back inside she goes to her crate where we keep a folded towel and she jumps up to stand at the side of the crate to look at it, indicating to me that she wants me to get the towel to dry her off … even if she’s not really all that wet because really she just wants to play with the towel. My dog is just too smart.

It’s been raining so much or other wise so miserable for the last few days that we really haven’t been out as much as we normally are. I took advantage of a break in the rain this afternoon and took the dog out for a long walk. While I was out I ran into one of my neighbors, a lady who just loves my dog and always stops to pet her and gives her a treat every time she sees her, and I guess she’s working from home these days. She told me she was just taking a break from working on her computer. She was busy trying to install inetsoft performance management software for her company and then it was back to work for her.

It seems more and more of my neighbors are working from home. I’ve worked from home (being sick on medical leave) for five years but when I first started blogging and doing some work from home I was the only one in the neighborhood that I know of working from home … now just about every house seems to have a person staying home doing work.

Anyway … I’m hoping that the rain will stop soon and Spring will start to warm up to normal temps. It’s been cold, wet and just kind of miserable. How has it been in your area?

It’s going to be a long time before our neighbors move in

by The Diva

Our neighbors that come to their home infrequently to renovate were here for a few hours today. I really don’t know about them … I mean .. who buys a house, a year ago now, and only renovates it ones or twice a month? Who has the time and money to do that?

At the rate they’re going their house won’t be finished for about five years!

Right now they have no walls inside, or well just frames and as I said they’re going at a snail pace so it doesn’t seem like they’ll be moving in any time soon. I guess it’s a good thing his parents don’t seem to mind them living with them!

I was talking with the woman and she was telling me that there were going to eventually put in a laminate flooring called armstrong grand illusions. It looks nice. I’m sure their house will be very nice once they get everything done, but as I said, it’s taking forever. I was looking forward to having new neighbors, last year, but … I’m going to have to wait a long time before that happens!

Trying to decide on what type of gift to get my pregnant friend

by The Diva

I just found out earlier this week that a close friend from work is expecting a baby in the Fall. I’m really happy for her as she’s wanted to have a baby for a long time.

I know it’s kind of early for gifts, but I’d like to get her a mother to be gift now … just to show her that I’m in her corner and that I’m excited for her and her husband.

My big dilemma is whether to get her a gift just for her – something that she can use to pamper herself now, or to get her a gift that she can use when the baby comes in the Fall. Hmmm … What to do, what to do …

If you were just fairly newly pregnant would you want a present for yourself right now or would you want a present for your baby? I mean … in a few months she’s definitely going to have a couple of very big baby showers from the people at work and all of our friends … I think I’m leaning towards getting her a personal gift.
