My psoriasis is getting better

by The Diva

I forgot to mention in my last post about the possible cure for acid reflux that Apple cider vinegar might also help skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

I guess it’s because taking vinegar regularly, as described in my last post, might change your bodies PH and that in turn helps skin conditions and other disorders.

I do happen to suffer from eczema and psoriasis. I have psoriasis on my hands (the knuckles) and a large spot on my right wrist that’s been there for abut 10 years. I’ve been taking the Apple cider vinegar for about three weeks now and not only has it helped my acid reflux but that unsightly spot on my right wrist (it really is UGLY) is getting better. It’s smaller and less angry looking.

Is it the vinegar? I don’t know, but in all the time that spots been on the top of my wrist nothing has helped it and now suddenly it’s getting better. So maybe it is the vinegar.

Those last few pounds and a possible acid reflux cure

by The Diva

I think that after you reach a certain age, say mid-thirties onward, it becomes harder to lose those extra pounds. I’m struggling myself to lose at least five pounds and I seem to have stalled.

Oddly enough as I try to lose those stubborn last pounds I keep getting emails with appetite suppressant reviews ironic isn’t it?

One thing that I’ve come across recently is Apple Cider vinegar. I’ve suffered from terrible acid reflux for years. It gives me a terrible pain in my chest – bad enough that I imagine it’s what a heart attack feels like!

I’ve tried all kinds of prescription and over the counter medications to reduce acid or form barriers so my esophagus doesn’t get damaged from all the acid and nothing totally takes it away.

A few weeks ago I was having a really bad time with my acid reflux. I kept having attack after attack and nothing was helping. Then as I searched on the internet for something that would help I came across a few sites that talked about how Apple Cider vinegar had really helped a lot of people with acid reflux.

I know – it sounds terrible!

However I was desperate and since I happened to have some apple cider vinegar i decided to give it a try. I put about a capful of vinegar in a glass of water and about 15 minutes later that awful gnawing pain in my stomach went away or at least almost went away. It certainly died down a lot. Since it seemed to help I started using an organic unfiltered brand of apple cider vinegar at least twice a day in a glass of water and I’ve only had one or two mild attacks of acid reflux since. I’ve been doing it for three weeks now.

The theory for the vinegar is that if it helps you, you might actually be suffering from too little acid in your stomach rather than too much.

Another reason why I brought up the Apple cider vinegar is because it’s also said that it’s an appetite suppressant and a fat burner. I do think my appetite is a little less after I take it, but that could be the extra glass of water. LOL

I’ll keep you posted as to whether i start losing those stubborn extra 5 pounds without really changing much else in my daily routine or eating habits. BTW I do eat healthy low fat foods – all in moderation. No big meals so there isn’t too much else I can change with my diet.

Winter stir crazy

by The Diva

It’s winter here in Toronto and I’m starting to go a little stir crazy. I think I always do come winter since I’m stuck inside due to my illness (Crohns).

I guess I really can’t complain too much this year. We barely have any snow and we’ve spent most of the winter snowless. We don’t tend to get a lot of snow here in Toronto, but we have much less than usual this year! So yes, I could get out more often if I wanted too .. but it’s still kind of cold.

I think I’m going to pull out my old ellipticals that’s stored in one of our spare bedrooms and start trying to use it daily. At least I’ll be getting a little exercise and it will help take away the winter blahs.

Do you work out indoors during the winter – whether you really need to or not?

A small pond would be a great feature in our garden

by The Diva

My husband has always wanted to put a pond in our back yard garden.

When we first moved in to our house we landscaped the front and back yards and we now have a lovely rose garden. Well … it’s not all roses, it’s a good mix of roses, flowering plants and greenery. It’s quite beautiful.

The only major thing that’s possibly missing from our little back yard oasis is a pond or fountain. I think I can make some room for a pond fountain somewhere near the patio where we can enjoy it.

I think I’m going to do a little research as to how to put in a pond and what we’ll need .. you know, things like pond pumps a liner and maybe some pond plants and surprise my husband with my new knowledge. Then, maybe in April or early May we’ll start putting in a pond. It will have to be a small one, but I know he’ll love it.

Have you ever built your own pond or installed a garden fountain? Tips?

I need a better fitness routine in the winter

by The Diva

Now that winter is here I find that I’m not getting as much exercise as I was when the weather was nicer. I really have to work on some kind of indoor routine that will help me stay in shape during the winter months.

I do have some fitness equipment that I use occasionally. I have an elliptical machine upstairs in one of our very tiny small bedrooms, and I also have a balance ball, and some small hand and leg weights that I use when I’m exercising to a fitness DVD or with my Wii.

The trouble is I don’t do it as often as I should. I guess I prefer getting my exercise outdoors. You know, taking long walks with the dog, biking, swimming, or even doing yard work or work in the garden. Believe me, when I garden it’s exercise as I spend hours working in the garden beds at a time!

What do you do for exercise in the winter? Do you go to a gym or work out at home or does your routine falter like mine once the weather outside turns bad?
