Anybody else have trouble upgrading their iPod to the new OS?

by The Diva

I am sooooo tired today! I had a huge problem with our newish iPod Touch.

I was up late on Thursday night … I guess that would make it early Friday morning and I was sorting some music in iTunes and syncing it with the iPod when I got a message asking if I wanted to upgrade to the new O.S.. I said yes, but as it turned out … at that time of night (3 AM) I probably shouldn’t have!

Everything seemed to be going ok at first, but just as the upgrade seemed to be nearing completion an error message came up and the ipod screen seemed stuck with a picture of a USB cord and and the iTunes logo. When I unhooked the USB I couldn’t turn the iPod back on, nothing would happen at all and when I’d hook it back up to the computer via the USB I’d get that same usb itunes image again and nothing else. Also, the ipod wasn’t showing up as being attached in itunes.

I restarted itunes, I restarted my computer, I spent literally hours pouring over support and help pages at Apple and finally after hooking the iPod up to my other laptop at about 8:30 Friday morning did I finally get a message via the iTunes on my old Laptop that stated that my iPod needed to be restored.

Sigh … by the time I finally got my lump of an iPod working again it was about 9:30 in the morning and I’d been up for over 24 hours! Believe me I was more than ready to hit the mattress … trouble was I was so hyped up after not having my iPod work and also after watching all the stuff about the earthquake and Tsunami in Japan that I had some trouble getting to sleep.

Anyway … you’d think that Apple would make sure that an OS upgrade would go smoothly .. I mean my laptop is only a month old and all the software on it is up to date so that wasn’t the problem! Grrrrr! Hopefully the next time I have to upgrade it goes better … I certainly won’t do it in the middle of the night.

Just a little bit more Christmas shopping to do

by The Diva

I’m planning to go shopping this weekend for the last of the Christmas gifts that I need to buy.

I didn’t buy too many gifts this year. We don’t have any extra money, but of course we still have to get a few gifts for the kids in the family at least. I was thinking that one of my nephews might like an iPod. I already checked and he doesn’t have one yet, so it would be the perfect gift. I spent some time earlier today reading an ipod shuffle review and I’m pretty sure that I’ll get him an iPod Shuffle.

Now that I think of it the iPod and maybe just a few DVD’s or Video games and I should be finished all my shopping. If I’m lucky perhaps my shopping trip this weekend will only take an hour or so.

Should I get an iPod Nano?

by The Diva

You know what? I don’t have an MP3 player. I know .. I’m horribly out of date it seems.

It’s not like I don’t want an iPod or some kind of MP3 Player, it’s just that money has been kind of tight for the last few years and getting a music player wasn’t at the top of our list of extras … even though it’s something that both my husband and I agreed we wanted and could use.

Anyway … I’ve been eying the new ipod nano. It’s small, it’s cute and price wise it’s not bad.

I even like the commercials on TV for the iPod Nano too. I know, that doesn’t really matter, but it does show you how versatile the iPods are.

Do you have an iPod? What about the new iPod Nano? Anyone have that one – do you like it?

We haven’t been to a concert in ages!

by The Diva

I just realized that my husband and I haven’t been out to see a concert in a long time. I believe it’s been at least three years since we’ve been to a concert and the last one we went to was at a small to medium sized venue – not one of those huge stadium concerts.

Considering that my husband is a musician (he plays 13 instruments) and I enjoy a wide variety of music genres I’m surprised we’ve gone this long without going to at least a small outdoor concert.

I’m going to see what bands are touring Toronto this Fall and then if there are any bands that my husband and I both enjoy I think I’ll try to purchase some concert tickets. Hey, we have to treat ourselves every now and then, don’t we?

Do you still go to concerts? If you do, who are your favorite bands or musicians?

Are all guys bad at packing?

by The Diva

My husband is busy getting ready to go away for the weekend. He’s going up North to a party that a friend of ours is having – on a boat.

He’s been playing his guitar and practicing some of his favorite songs all week. Oh and he’s been printing out the lyrics and music and putting them together in a binder that we just call “The Book”. With the way he’s been printing pages all week I’m glad he hasn’t been color printing as I’m sure we’d be out of ink by now. LOL

I was going to help my husband pack, but I think I’ll let him get started and see how things go. He’s not the best packer in the world … one time we drove out east (2000 miles) and he forgot to pack underwear! At least that was an easy enough problem to fix.

I wish that I was going up North as well this weekend, but the hotels in the area aren’t dog friendly and since it’s a long drive and an overnight stay we can’t leave our dog at home on her own. I just know she’d get into trouble.

Ok … back to work … I’ve got to check on what my husband has packed so far!
