A great girls only weekend

by The Diva

I had my girls day and night out last weekend. We had so much fun!

We started out by getting facials at a downtown spa. Man that was nice! Then we went out shopping in the fashion district.

I wasn’t planning on buying anything, but I came home with three bags! I bought a nice blouse, a dress and some lingerie. Oh la la!

Once we’d spent all we could spend shopping we went to one of my favorite french restaurants. Delicious!

By the time we’d finished dinner it was getting late and I think we were all tipsy. We thought about hitting a dance club but in the end we couldn’t decide where to go and nixed the idea.

All in all it was a really great time!

Do you ever go out just with your girlfriends? When’s the last time you did it?

Are all guys bad at packing?

by The Diva

My husband is busy getting ready to go away for the weekend. He’s going up North to a party that a friend of ours is having – on a boat.

He’s been playing his guitar and practicing some of his favorite songs all week. Oh and he’s been printing out the lyrics and music and putting them together in a binder that we just call “The Book”. With the way he’s been printing pages all week I’m glad he hasn’t been color printing as I’m sure we’d be out of ink by now. LOL

I was going to help my husband pack, but I think I’ll let him get started and see how things go. He’s not the best packer in the world … one time we drove out east (2000 miles) and he forgot to pack underwear! At least that was an easy enough problem to fix.

I wish that I was going up North as well this weekend, but the hotels in the area aren’t dog friendly and since it’s a long drive and an overnight stay we can’t leave our dog at home on her own. I just know she’d get into trouble.

Ok … back to work … I’ve got to check on what my husband has packed so far!

Trying to decide what to get my husband for his birthday

by The Diva

I just realized that my husbands birthday is coming up. It’s next weekend! He’s going to be 45.

In our home we don’t care all that much about birthdays, but 45 is a big birthday, so I’m trying to think of something nice to get him.

He’s actually been playing softball with a team from work once a week this summer … so maybe one of those personalized baseball bats would make a nice gift.

Music is his world though. He plays guitar and 13 other instruments. You wouldn’t believe how cluttered our house is with instruments and music related items and equiptment. If we weren’t already watching “It might get Loud” on TV right now I’d get him that DVD. He’s certainly enjoying watching The Edge, Jimmy Page and Jack Black talk about guitars and their musical backgrounds and what they think of the music industry as it’s evolved in their time as musicians.

Maybe I’ll take a look around and see if I can find some more music (guitar) related documentaries on DVD that I could get for him. I know he’d love it.

Any suggestions?

It’s going to be a busy weekend!

by The Diva

I think this is going to be a busy weekend.

We’re planning on going to a few free events including Toronto’s Beach Rib Fest, Luminato and maybe the Taste of Little Italy.

The Much Music Awards are also taking place on Sunday … who knows maybe we’ll visit Queen Street West and see if we can see anything. I know we’ll be able to hear it if we go to the general area, even if we can’t get close enough to see any of the five stages that they’re setting up.

All I need to do before I start my busy weekend is try to talk to a friend who’s convince she needs to buy phentermine in order to lose weight. Actually I should tell her to come along with us to all the events we plan on attending this weekend … that’s gotta burn more than few calories. Of course we plan on eating some of the food at Rib Fest and Taste of Little Italy – but only a little. I’m sure all the walking we’ll be doing will help balance things out.

What are you up to this weekend?

Our TV is connected to the internet now

by The Diva

Earlier this week we hooked our new Plasma HDTV up to our router using a LAN connector. My laptop computer that was on at the time automatically picked up on the new device.

Cool … now I can do things like watch YouTube videos on the TV instead of my laptop or when I take new pictures and upload them to my computer I can set them up so that I can see them in a slide show on my TV.

I’m loving this!

I still have to explore all of the things I can do now that our TV has an internet connection but it’s kind of neat. It would probably be even cooler if I had Windows 7 on my computer, but it seems to work well enough with Windows XP.

Do you have your HDTV connected to the internet either wirelessly or via a LAN cable like we do? If you do … do you use it to view things on the internet?
