My Bell Pepper weight loss experiment

by The Diva

You know, I was just thinking about how I managed to lose so weight so fast last fall. I had thought it was because of a new medication that I had just started at the time, a medication for my migraines that has a side effect of causing appetite loss and as a result weight loss.

Well that might have been a big part of it, but I think I’ve discovered something else that works for me … just like weight loss supplements works for others. Bell Peppers – believe it or not.

Honest. In the fall when I dropped 15 pounds in about three weeks I was eating grilled chicken and grilled peppers pretty much every day. Now when I thought about it recently I realized that almost every time I go through a period of losing weight it’s when I’m eating bell peppers on a regular basis. Maybe that sounds odd, but there have been studies that prove that eating peppers can raise your body temperature for a short period after eating them thus raising your metabolism. I also feel that when I eat them they act as an appetite suppressant. I just don’t crave snacks, sweets or carbs anywhere near as much as I do when I’m not eating them on a regular basis.

My husband agrees that he feels less “snacky” when we’re eating Bell Peppers. I either grill them on the barbecue or roast them in the oven and as I said we generally eat them with grilled (or baked) chicken breasts (boneless/ skinless). We could both stand to lose a few pounds before spring/summer so I figure why not continue to eat bell peppers for another month to 6 weeks and see if we both continue to lose weight. Hey if it works that’s great. Plus, bell peppers are good for you, they’re high in vitamins, antioxidants and fiber.

Making plans for Valentines Day

by The Diva

I’m trying to figure out what my husband and I should do for Valentines. It’s too bad that Valentines Day is on a Monday this year. Maybe we’ll celebrate it early and celebrate ll weekend instead?

We usually don’t do much for Valentines. Just having a nice dinner and spending time together is enough for the two of us … but this year, maybe we’ll either go out for dinner or get restaurant delivery from a really nice restaurant.

What are you doing or Valentines? Do you celebrated the holiday? Will you go out for dinner or will you stay in and cook a romantic meal?

We’re almost done eating all the cookies I baked in December

by The Diva

My husband and I are finally clearing out some of the baking that I did in December. Not that there was anything wrong with it mind you … just that I went into baking overkill …. cookies, cookies, cookies everywhere!

This evening after dinner I took a look on top of our fridge and pulled down four freezer bags were I’d stored some of the cookies that I’d baked. The bags I took down only had a couple of cookies on them and lots of crumbs so we finished off a few of the cookies and crumbs and got rid of two of the bags. Maybe we won’t need to look for diet pills that work if we can get rid of the cookies soon.

I don’t think I’ll go on any more baking sprees for a while.

I’m so full!

by The Diva

I’m so full! We had an early Christmas dinner this evening and I’m still full!

I don’t even think I ate that much, but I’m stuffed!

I made a turkey last night , Thursday December 23rd, yes a little early, but we’re going to the in-laws for Christmas and I like to have our own Christmas dinner too … so we had ours early .. so I guess tonight’s dinner was the second dinner .. All I had tonight was a little bit of stuffing, some turkey, some sweet potatoes and cranberry jelly and that’s it. No big helpings – just a little bit of each.

Perhaps I should put on my coat and take a long walk around the neighborhood and then I’ll feel a little less full.

Tomorrow when we go to the in-laws I’ll get to see how they decorated this year at the church across the street. My mother in law said something about how she used cypress trees as part of their decoration. It should be interesting to see how they decorated.

What are you doing for Christmas or the holidays? Any big plans?

My husbands favorite dinner – lately

by The Diva

This evening we’re having what’s quickly becoming one of my husband’s favorite dinners. It’s pretty easy to make too.

We’re having a mix of long grain and wild rice, peas and chicken. I tend to eat these three food items separately but my husband likes to cut up his chicken and then he mixes the peas, rice and chicken together and he swears that it tastes like chicken fried rice. I’ve tasted his mix and it’s true – it does tasted like chicken fried rice … maybe I should mix mine up too.

This evening I think I’m going to pull out one of the desserts that I made two weeks ago – Zucchinni bread – perhaps cut some up and put it in the center of the table on a glass tile and we’ll have it for dessert after dinner. Yum.

Speaking of dinner … it’s after 8 pm … I’d better get cooking!
