I deserve a treat or two – time to shop

by The Diva

I was just saying on my other blog that I’m due to treat myself to some new clothes. I don’t know why, but it seems that I always get the urge to add to my wardrobe at this time of year for some reason.

Anyway .. it’s been exactly a year since I quit smoking so that calls for a celebration and what better way to treat myself than to use some buckle coupons to buy some new clothes? Yep .. save some money and get some cool stuff. Uh huh … and if I don’t find anything for me at that store I can always use the coupons on something for one of my nieces I suppose.

So what do you think? Doesn’t that sound like a good enough reason to treat myself?

So Facebook changed it’s look again

by The Diva

So what do you think of the changes to Facebook? I don’t use Facebook all that much, but oddly enough I had started using it more and the last month or two and wouldn’t you know, just as I was getting use to it and getting a feel for it, they went and changed the whole look and feel of the site and well .. I don’t really like it.

Actually the first time I was on when they changed everything they had turned on chat on me and I ended up talking to a lot of people. I normally have chat turned off because I just don’t have a lot of spare time to talk to to people when I’m trying to get work done on the computer or on my sites, but since chat was on by default that day … I ended up talking to people for over an hour before I managed to get out of there!

I talked to some friends and some people that I don’t know all that well about every thing from the recent Facebook site changes to the weather to someone getting car title loans Washington to another friend buying a house and more. I think I’m pretty much caught up! Oh and then the next day Google+ opened up I believe and that was another day of major social interactions on the internet!

So back to my original question – what do you think of the new Facebook? Like it or Hate it?

Do indoor antennas work to bring in a decent amount of TV stations?

by The Diva

You know how you can’t use one of those old fashioned antennas to get television stations now if you don’t have cable because everything’s gone digital?

Well, we do have cable, but I was just thinking, if we ever do get around to refinishing our basement, or at least semi setting it up in to something usable and we set up our old HDTV down there … will we have to run cable to it to watch tv or can we use one of those indoor antennas to bring in decent television stations?

If anyone has an idea as to whether this will work well please let me know. I don’t want to install more cable and or rent more cable boxes if I don’t have to!

Time to hit the bike trails

by The Diva

Now that September has arrived it’s really cooled off dramatically! I can’t believe how cool it’s getting at night. We actually turned our furnace on for the first time this season this evening. It was just too cool in our house.

One thing I do like about the cooler weather is that it’s nice to get out and either take long walks or go for bike rides. Working out or being active is important year round, but I find it much easier in the spring and fall when the temperature outside is much more moderate to cool. I just get too hot in the summer if I really exert myself and well, sometimes here in the winter it’s just too cold to go outside for a long time.

Perhaps tomorrow if the weather is nice we’ll get out the thule bike rack and load up the bikes and go to a bike trail for a nice long ride.

Do you enjoy doing outdoor activities like biking, walking and running year round, or are you like me and prefer to do some of those activities when the weather is slightly cooler like during the Spring and Fall?

My husbands hours keep changing at work

by The Diva

My husbands workplace is really messing up his schedule. One of his co-workers was going to go back to school so they hired a new employee and shortly after the new guy was hired, but before he started the guy who’d said he was going to go back to school and had asked to cut down his hours said he wasn’t going back to school.

Unfortunately, by this time it was too late to “unhire” the new guy so my husband, Chris, the guy who was going back to school and then wasn’t and another guy all lost one shift per week to accommodate the new hire! So my husband went down from four shifts a week to three.

Now my husband is an attendant in the Recovery Room and he came up with an idea … he asked his boss if he could train in the Operating Room as they’re always short staffed there so over the last few weeks he’s been training one day a week there. Now this week the new guy started in the Recovery room and after the first day he couldn’t handle how busy it was and he’s going back to his old job in the hospital!

Unfortunately my husbands hours are still in jeopardy. The guy who was going to go back to school is going to go back in January and now another coworker wants to cut back his hours so they will still need to hire another worker … so my husband might be able to pick up more hours in the Operating Room now that he’s been trained there .. but he’s now thinking about starting over and going back to school too .. he’s noticed a demand in Physical Therapist Jobs so maybe going back to school for a career as a physical therapist.

We’re just hoping that over the next few months he gets enough hours for us to scrape by!
