Black Friday shopping trip cancelled

by The Diva

Well I was supposed t be in a car with my friends probably sitting in a long line of cars waiting to get over the boarder to the US by now … but uh that’s not going to happen.

My friends and I were going to drive into the US this evening so that we could take advantage of some Black Friday sales, but one of them can’t go now and we decide to cancel the trip.

So now I’m just sitting at home watching a rerun of Flashpoint on TV with my husband. I love that show. The police snipers are up on a roof top right now looking through their rifle scopes at a kidnapper. Tense. I’m always on the edge of my seat with that show. I hope they return with new episodes in the new year!

Anyway … if any of you are taking advantage of Black Friday sales I hope that you’re successful and get some good deals. Stay safe!

Skin problems might be an allergy?

by The Diva

I don’t know why I’m having skin troubles. I don’t know if it’s because it’s cooler here now and the furnace is on a lot so the air is dry and that’s irritating my skin, or if something else is causing problems.

I did start some new medications in the last few months – perhaps they are wrecking havoc with my skin? Either way … I need to find some way to control my skin problem. My skin will be ok for a few days or so and then I’ll break out on one side of my face or in a particular area. Right now it’s at the corner of my right jaw just in front of my ear. It’s itchy – like hives or an allergic reaction, but I know it will turn into blemishes. Strange eh?

I’d like to find some kind of natural acne treatment since my skin is so sensitive to chemicals.

Does your skin react oddly like mine has been? I’m really starting to think that my skin problems start as allergic reactions and then turn into blemishes. Perhaps I should be watching what I eat and drink as well.

A sure sign that Christmas is coming

by The Diva

Oh oh … I just got a sure sign that Christmas is coming.

My husbands sister just sent the annual email with all the updates on the kids, questions about what kind of get together we’re going to have at Christmas time and the questions about what to get mom for christmas.

She always wants to go in on a group gift. I’m not sure why? It’s nice every once in a while when there’s something really special or perhaps something very expensive to buy as a gift, but not every year! I kind of like picking out my own gifts and not always having everyone sign their names on it. LOL

Anyway … are you ready for Christmas yet? Did you buy you gifts yet?

A well meaning relative

by The Diva

I received a package from my husbands well meaning aunt earlier this week.

She’s really into organic products. There’s nothing wrong with that … frankly I’m into organics as well … it’s just she’s really into the stuff. She’ll only eat wheat germ for a week as part of some special diet and exclude everything else.

She knows I have crohn’s disease so this care package had some special supplements in it like Devils claw and pamphlets with information about things like a colon cleanse that really works.

Some of the things she sends me is helpful, but I’m not interested in a lot of the things she sends so she’s wasting her money.

Do you have any friends or relatives that buy things for you that you don’t need or want but you just don’t know how to tell them to stop? My husbands aunt is such a nice person I’m sure it’d break her heart if I told her I didn’t want the things she sends me.

My husband needs to get a new job

by The Diva

I think it’s about time for my husband to start looking for a new job. I was just saying in my last post that my husband will be going through a two week temporary lay off at work at the end of December. Doesn’t that suck?

This will be his fourth temporary layoff at the hospital in just over a year. I’m right aren’t I – it’s time to look for a new job. Trouble is … he loves his job … plus, as most of you probably know, the economy isn’t that great so there isn’t a lot of great jobs out there. I think right now my husband would be willing to take a part time sales job over the Christmas season would be nice.

There’s just been so many budget cuts at the hospital – that’s why they keep doing these temporary lay offs. I don’t know how they expect to keep employees though!

One of our neighbors works for our city bus company – the TTC and he keeps telling my husband about various job openings, so my husband is going to put in his resume with the TTC and hopefully he’ll get called in for an interview. Certainly if my husband could get a better job we’d be in a lot better shape financially.
