Winter stir crazy

by The Diva

It’s winter here in Toronto and I’m starting to go a little stir crazy. I think I always do come winter since I’m stuck inside due to my illness (Crohns).

I guess I really can’t complain too much this year. We barely have any snow and we’ve spent most of the winter snowless. We don’t tend to get a lot of snow here in Toronto, but we have much less than usual this year! So yes, I could get out more often if I wanted too .. but it’s still kind of cold.

I think I’m going to pull out my old ellipticals that’s stored in one of our spare bedrooms and start trying to use it daily. At least I’ll be getting a little exercise and it will help take away the winter blahs.

Do you work out indoors during the winter – whether you really need to or not?

A small pond would be a great feature in our garden

by The Diva

My husband has always wanted to put a pond in our back yard garden.

When we first moved in to our house we landscaped the front and back yards and we now have a lovely rose garden. Well … it’s not all roses, it’s a good mix of roses, flowering plants and greenery. It’s quite beautiful.

The only major thing that’s possibly missing from our little back yard oasis is a pond or fountain. I think I can make some room for a pond fountain somewhere near the patio where we can enjoy it.

I think I’m going to do a little research as to how to put in a pond and what we’ll need .. you know, things like pond pumps a liner and maybe some pond plants and surprise my husband with my new knowledge. Then, maybe in April or early May we’ll start putting in a pond. It will have to be a small one, but I know he’ll love it.

Have you ever built your own pond or installed a garden fountain? Tips?

I need a better fitness routine in the winter

by The Diva

Now that winter is here I find that I’m not getting as much exercise as I was when the weather was nicer. I really have to work on some kind of indoor routine that will help me stay in shape during the winter months.

I do have some fitness equipment that I use occasionally. I have an elliptical machine upstairs in one of our very tiny small bedrooms, and I also have a balance ball, and some small hand and leg weights that I use when I’m exercising to a fitness DVD or with my Wii.

The trouble is I don’t do it as often as I should. I guess I prefer getting my exercise outdoors. You know, taking long walks with the dog, biking, swimming, or even doing yard work or work in the garden. Believe me, when I garden it’s exercise as I spend hours working in the garden beds at a time!

What do you do for exercise in the winter? Do you go to a gym or work out at home or does your routine falter like mine once the weather outside turns bad?

Unique Ideas for Baby Shower Scrapbooking Layouts

by The Diva

A baby shower is one of the most important events in a mother’s life, and of course she will want to find orginal baby shower scrapbooking layouts to capture her memories.  All those cute presents and all the friends and relative that gather should be remembered and some baby shower scrapbooking layouts can be just the thing for that! Are you looking for more scrapbooking techniques?

There are many different paper packs and templates that you can buy for scrapbooking a baby shower.  Many scrapbook companies put together pages that are set with frames for photos, cute sayings, and everything you need to make a baby scrapbook page.  If you’re new to scrapbooking or aren’t creatively gifted then these baby shower scrapbooking layouts can be the right thing for you.  All that’s needed are those pictures!  But some people aren’t interested in having their pages already designed for them but still are a bit overwhelmed with what to do when it comes to making up their own baby shower scrapbooking layouts.

Many people use the traditional baby colors of pink and blue for their layouts, but you can really use any colors you like.  Strong colors of autumn such as chocolate brown, rusty red, and warm yellow are favorites for many women when it comes to baby shower scrapbooking layouts.  One reason for this is that these colors are somewhat neutral and a bit easier on the eyes than strong blues, but aren’t as washed out as pink can sometime seem.  You might also try these same colors but in primary shades, meaning red, blue and yellow.Baby toys are often in primary colors making these a good choice for baby shower scrapbooking pages.

Get creative with the christmas scrapbooking quotes and the fonts you use.  Many opt for “childish” fonts that resemble the writing of a child but there’s no need to do this if you prefer something more elegant or something simpler.  You can put the child’s name or a simple phrase such as “Baby Boy” or “Baby Girl” across the top of any baby shower scrapbooking layouts and some simple wording underneath in a smaller font for a nice touch. Try using cricut machine 29 to create your letters.    And remember that you don’t need to work the word “baby” into your layouts – try words like Love, Welcome, Family, and Cherished.

Finding A Discount Flight On The Internet

by The Diva

Many frequent flyers appear to be conversing more about airfare deals and getting the best price at the best possible time to travel. At many different places around the World, ticket prices seem to fluctuate significantly. However, it is possible to fly to many destinations for considerably less than the full standard fare, with the assistance of a good travel agent and a little research.

A key factor to getting a good deal is flexibility. To save money airlines will slot people into empty seats, so if you’re willing to modify your dates to suit the airlines program, then you can benefit on their decision. A hefty cancellation fee will be charged against you by many airlines, if after you have booked your flight, you switch the date.

Cheap airfare deals can be found everywhere you look on the internet. Have a look at a review flight website like Virgin Cheap Travel. There are many airfare reviews of the major airlines helping you find the deal and pice of mind you need when booking.

Frequent flyer usually end up getting the best deals when looking for discount flights. The numerous ‘Frequent Flyer’ programs usually provide incentives for customer loyalty. Usually you will earn points as a regular flyer which can be exchanged for flight tickets of other goods.

The internet is the number one source for finding online deals. Beware of the internet sites that are specializing in selling airline tickets at a discount, they could be legitimate but it is always best to book your flight with known discount agents. {The problem is that people often have a hard time in confirming the legitimacy of these sites before they are committed to making a payment. It is very difficult to tell whether these sites are legitimate or not.} Try telephoning the booking of your flight or even visit their offices if they are local. If the company if of good standing they should have a telephone number on the site. Find out exactly which airline you have booked your flight with, that is important to know.

On a daily basis the number of airline deals are on the increase as competition in the skies increases.
