Budget Dream Bathrooms

by The Diva

Everyone want a luxurious bathroom to unwind in, but many people don’t think that they can afford all of the bells and whistles. this is not true! The cost to remodel a bathroom with all the amenities of a spa costs less than you think. In this article, we’ll show you how luxury bathrooms can be created, without a luxury price tag.

To properly remodel a bathroom, the initial step should be to select a calming color. Using color to improve your health is called chromatherapy. A number of bathtubs, showers and sinks are now designed with chromatherapy in mind, so you can coordinate your pieces for the maximum effect. For a super bath toy, the new soak bath with chromatherapy, allows an individual to be immersed in a warm, ultra-deep bath and, with the touch of a button, enhance the bathing environment to include a full spectrum of dramatic color. The colors are displayed approximately every 8 seconds and washed over the bather in faded hueswhich go to solid then fade again and give way to the next color. This creates an incredibly relaxing sensation that you should definitely experience!

If you prefer invigorating showers over long soaks in the tub, then here is something that’s a must-have in luxury bathrooms. Many people find that the rich moisture in a steam shower can be a soothing and relaxing and soaking in a hot tub. The steam relieves muscle tension, joint fatigue, reduces stress and cleanses skin impurities. Most steam showers offer temperature selections that range from ninety to one hundred and twenty degrees timers for the length of time that you want to enjoy the steam option. Steam showers have come down significantly in price and are the same size as traditional shower enclosures. If you really want to go all out, some steam showers come equipped with a radio and telephone, a remote control, as well as connections for your CD player.

No spa experience is complete without wrapping your relaxed and rejuvenated body in a warm towel, so luxurious bathrooms should definitely come with a towel warmer. Lower-cost towel warmers cost as little as $100-$150 and are superb for homeowners who need to remodel a bathroom on a budget. However, they’re often equipped with very light chroming or lower-quality materials that will wear off over time. You also cannot control the degree of heat that the unit emits. Luxury towel warmers can run anywhere from $1,500-$5,000, and many come with elegant designs. These towel warmers usually use solid brass and come with a 5-year warranty.

Prior to designing your space you need to decide on what luxury means to you,. Do you have to have the jacuzzi tub or would some new paint and fancy towels satisfy the need to upgrade your master bath and pamper yourself? Luxury bathrooms don’t have to be expensive. Many pricey items for decorating bathrooms have cheaper alternatives, so shop around and treat yourself to things that you’ll enjoy for years.

Vacations In Scotland And A Selection Of Splendid Places to Visit Near Pitlochry

by The Diva

Scottish vacations are incredibly popular at this time due, probably, to the strength of the US dollar against the £ making vacations to England, Wales and Scotland pretty cheap, especially if visiting from from the U.S.A.. In the article below we introduce three fascinating places to visit in Pitlochry, Blair Castle, the Killiecrankie Visitor Centre and the Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Centre.

Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Centre

A power station is a pretty strange site for a tourist attraction, however this is just where you will discover the Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Center. The center is situated inside the splendid Pitlochry Power Station, and features interactive exhibits describing the development of hydro power in Scotland, dating from the nineteen forties to the present day. The Pitlochry Dam, which was constructed between 1947 and 1951, gives you the interesting opportunity to watch the renowned salmon ladder via 3 observation areas. Within the visitor center, you will also discover audio-visual presentations and interactive which explain this natural spectacle. The turbine hall of Pitlochry Hydro-Electric Power Station can also be observed from inside the Visitor Center.

Blair Castle

Blair Castle can be dated as far back as the thirteenth century and is the ancestral seat of the Earls and Dukes of Atholl. The building of Blair Castle began in 1269, under the guidance of John I Comyn, Lord of Badenoch, a nearby acquaintance of the Earl of Atholl. The Earl was away, fighting in the Crusade’s, when John I Comyn began construction of Blair Castle on his land. As soon as the Earl returned he bitterly complained to Alexander III, the king of Scotland about his neighbor, and won back his lands. Rather than destroying the tower than John I Comyn had erected, the Earl decided to merge the tower into his own castle. A Great Hall and a number of vaulted chambers were incorporated into the castle over the centuries, by  subsequent Earls. It was the 2nd Duke of Atholl who, in 1740, decided to remodel the castle as a Georgian Mansion.

Killiecrankie Visitor Centre

During the era of the Jacobites Killiecrankie, not too far from Pitlochry, was full of the crys of battle. The government soldiers were heavily overwhelmed by the rebel soldiers of the Jacobites, under the leadership of Bonnie Dundee. During the bloodthirsty battle a soldier evaded capture by leaping over the River Garry, which gained the name, Soldier’s Leap. The area around the Pass and gorge were a favorite haunt of Queen Victoria.

To learn about the infamous battle you can visit the Killiecrankie Visitor Centre. The Visitor Centre has a number of otherdisplays and services, which include; ranger service’s, guided walks and a natural history of the area and much more.

If you are thinking about having a vacation in Scotland based in Pitlochry then you will find Pitlochry hotels online by by placing “Pitlochry hotel accommodation” in your favorite search engine.

Hair Loss in Women: A Devastating Experience

by The Diva

Author: Fernanda B.Sc, Pharm, M.H

A short time ago I went through this emotionally devastating experience where I started to lose my hair. To some this might sound and vain, although any women who has gone through a large degree of hair loss can relate to the grieving.

I’ve always had dark brown colored thick curly hair with a significant amount of body – I always thought too much body.  Hair Stylists always spoke highly about my hair. Secretly I wanted the hair I didn’t have which is silky manageable blond hair. However, when I looked about and saw chunks of my hair on the floor, instead of being attached to my head, I definitely appreciated what I was losing.  At the time, wherever I went, I dropped a trail of hair in my path. When I washed and combed my hair large bunches of hair would drop out. When I brushed my hair, after a minimal amount of strokes, the brush would literally disappear in all the hair on it. I felt so helpless that I sobbed all the time. When I pulled my hair up into an elastic and its thickness was a fraction of what it used to be I then figured out I had to take some drastic measures.

My first step was to consult with my Doctor, There are many medical maladies that cause hair loss such as Cushings, hypothyroidism, diabetes and polycystic ovaries, etc. I agreed to an assortment of tests and they all came back negative.  Although I was pleased to know I was in perfect health, it did nothing to settle my nervousness about the hair loss.  Now I was sure I had befallen the curse of baldness which runs all through my Father’s family.  This delivered me into a heavier depression.

My next move was to search the internet looking for information.  The internet was crammed with all kinds of miracle advice for hair loss and baldness. I was frightened at how single-minded I felt to try something, anything, that would prevent this hair loss. Particularly interesting were all of those hair transplant clinics offering a solid head of hair. But none of these ads discussed an explanation.  Why was my hair falling out so dramatically?

I did find a rational solution. By way of the internet I found a medical clinic with a dermatologist who has special knowledge of hair conditions. I contacted the clinic and was advised I had to have a referral from my doctor with results of tests to disclaim other medical problems. Once I contacted my doctor and the outcome of the tests were forwarded we booked an appointment. I saw the specialist and he did a in-depth check of my head and my medical history. After discussing my medical history with me for 30 minutes he knew the cause of my hair loss. I don’t bring to mind his name but he will forever be “GOLDENDOC”

Previously that year I had suffered with pneumonia which was very challenging to my body.  Mother Nature being what she is, determined my body required all the nourishment possible and nourishing my hair was not on her agenda.  “GOLDENDOC” in his infinite wisdom told me that the deterioration of my beloved locks of hair would be short-lived. True to his word my hair ceased falling out after a further five or six weeks.

Then I travelled through the opposite experience. No hair fallout at all, not even the usual loss of 100-200 hairs daily.  This lasted for six months or so.  Now I am happy to have all my hair back, and I sure value it.

If any lady is experiencing hair loss, please experiment with what I did. See your physician and request the required tests done to eliminate underlying medical conditions.  If these turn out negative, find a dermatologist who is professionally known for work with hair loss.  He/she will give information and solutions that allow you to make a better choice.  Look for my next blog Hair loss in women; Sensible Information.

Aberdeen: Scotland, Places To Visit In The Granite City

by The Diva

Aberdeen is the third largest city in Scotland, in relationship to population numbers. Aberdeen’s buildings, since the mid 18th century, have been made using local grey granite and the city benefits from its sandy coastline. This has led to the city being nicknamed the Granite City and also the Silver City with the Golden Sands. However in more recent times the city has added the nicknames of the Energy Capital of Europe or the Oil Capital of Europe due to the discovery of oil in the North Sea. The city of Aberdeen has benefitted greatly from the income generated by the oil industry and the support industries. Nowadays the city is thoroughly modern and immensely vibrant with a wild nighlife.

Aberdeen hotels are often booked by people visiting on business but also by various other types of tourists eager to take advantage of the many tourist attractions Aberdeen has to offer. Below you will read details of three; Duthie Park Winter Gardens, Satrosphere Science Centre and Aberdeen Maritime Museum:

Aberdeen Maritime Museum

The Maritime Museum in Aberdeen is found near to the harbor, at the legendary Shiprow. There are astounding panoramas of the harbour from the museum. The Maritime Museum inhabits quite a few buildings, which include a former church and one of the oldest residences in Aberdeen. The museum has exhibits which include everything relating to the seagoing environment, from the oil industry to the fishing boats. Basically, the museum conveys the  story of the city’s epic relationship with the ocean. Some of the collections contain models, paintings, ship plans and photographs from the most major of Aberdeen’s shipbuilders.

Duthie Park Winter Gardens

In 1881, Lady Elizabeth Duthie of Ruthrieston, gifted to the council, 44 acres of land. The land for the park was purchased, as a lasting memorial to her uncle and brother. In 1899, when the gardens were completed, they opened up to the public. However, in 1969 disaster struck and the greenhouses had to be demolished and reconstructed. This was due to severe storm damgage. Today, the David Welch Winter Gardens at Duthie Park are one of Scotland’s favourite garden attractions, and also the largest indoor gardens in the whole of Europe. Each greenhouse has an important collection such as, the Victorian House, Tropical House, Temperate House, Japanese Garden, Fern House and Corridor of Perfumes.

Satrosphere Science Centre

One of the first science and discovery centers in Scotland was the, Satrosphere Science Center, in Aberdeen. This interactive, hands-on science center, has more than 50 exhibits and live science shows, and opened to the public in 1988. Although the center is aimed at school age children, the attraction of the exhibits is universal. The center is situated in the old tram sheds, close to the sea front, on Constitution Street. The purpose is to inspire youngsters to become scientist’s, as interest in science courses in universities, is in decline. One of the favorite exhibits at the center is the famous giant soap bubble, where each child can be encompassed within a magic bubble.

There are many more visitor attractions in and about Aberdeen which are well worth visiting and the above three were chosen randomly. If you are planning to take a vacation in Aberdeen, Scotland then you will find numerous quality hotels in Aberdeen, or many other types of accommodation, available to book online.
