Sure signs of spring

by The Diva

Just in the last week or two they’ve started saying on the news that we’re supposed to brace ourselves for a colder and longer spring than usual. Now that’s depressing news since we’re just coming out of a colder winter than we’ve had in years.

The trouble is … I don’t quit believe the weather men.

Two weekends ago as my husband and I were driving in the countryside we noticed flocks of birds flying overhead. They were flocks of geese and ducks. Now that was what … February 22 or so? We even used scopes to verify what type of birds were flying overhead.

Then .. last weekend we noticed that the trees, in particular the willow trees, were starting to look fuller. They were still leafless of course since it’s still quit cold here in Toronto, but I think the trees are starting to develop small leaf buds.

Sure signs of spring. I’m certain of it!

Very persistent delivery person

by The Diva

Well I think my next door neighbors might be expecting a second child. There’s been a lot of activity at their house over the last couple of weeks and I saw the oddest thing that I ever saw a delivery person do …

A week or so ago a van pulled up in front of our houses. It blocked my driveway. I didn’t see the van pull up and only noticed it after I heard loud knocking at my door. Of course by the time I got to my door the man who’d knocked was proceeding to walk to the neighbors on the right. In his hand he carried a package that looked like it was flowers and maybe baby gifts or something baby related. His van wasn’t marked with any company logos, it was just a plain van … I had thought about opening the door to him to call out to ask what he wanted but since I didn’t even know what company he was from I wondered if it was scam .. especially when I saw that he just kept going from house to house knocking on my neighbors doors.

I guess one of my neighbors many doors down finally opened the door to him and took in the package. The delivery man then walked back to my immediate next door neighbors and left what looked like a note – probably to tell them where he left the package he was delivering.

Wasn’t that strange? I’ve never seen a delivery person so determined to deliver a package. Usually if they can’t deliver they just return the package to the store or to the warehouse and then the customer has to pick it up there or wait until the company tries to deliver it again – right?

Keeping in touch with old friends

by The Diva

I was talking with one of my friends the other day that I hadn’t talked to for quite a while. She used to live in Toronto but she moved another province a few years ago and we just don’t talk or see each other anywhere near as much as we used to.

I’m so glad that we can Skype, email and talk on the phone!

Anyway … caught me up on everything that’s been happening and she told me that her son is going to be going back to school. He’s going to be getting an information technology degree. He’s very smart so I’m sure he’ll do quite well.

I think we’re going to try to get in touch with each other by Skype at least once a week. It’s not quite the same as getting together but it’s the next best thing.

Time for a new cellphone

by The Diva

I think my cell phone is on it’s last legs. It’s about five years old and I just can’t rely on it most of the time any more.

I guess it’s time to start thinking about getting a new cell phone. I’ve been looking around online and as I’m sure you know, a lot has changed with cellphones in five years!

I’ve toyed with the idea of getting an iPhone or maybe even a htc desire hd. Whatever I get I’m sure it’s going to be a smartphone.

Any suggestions?

I don’t use my cellphone a lot so I don’t really need to use it to get online for browsing or even to do a lot of texting but it would be nice for it to have those capabilities if I wanted to use them or get a a package that offed those features.

Just a little bit more Christmas shopping to do

by The Diva

I’m planning to go shopping this weekend for the last of the Christmas gifts that I need to buy.

I didn’t buy too many gifts this year. We don’t have any extra money, but of course we still have to get a few gifts for the kids in the family at least. I was thinking that one of my nephews might like an iPod. I already checked and he doesn’t have one yet, so it would be the perfect gift. I spent some time earlier today reading an ipod shuffle review and I’m pretty sure that I’ll get him an iPod Shuffle.

Now that I think of it the iPod and maybe just a few DVD’s or Video games and I should be finished all my shopping. If I’m lucky perhaps my shopping trip this weekend will only take an hour or so.
