How To Avoid Letting Your Wedding Drive You Apart

by Trish

The whole point of a wedding is union. The entire reason that you have spent all this money, done all this work, and put all this time in in the build up to your big day, is so that you can be bonded together permanently and never have to be apart.

That’s the idea anyway, but as we all know it doesn’t always turn out that way. What’s really surprising and unfortunate though, is when you don’t even make it that far and when you end up breaking up before you’ve even gotten the chance to stand before the congregation. The problem is, that while weddings are all about joining two people together – they sure do give you a lot of reasons to consider parting.

Here we will look at how you can ensure that doesn’t happen, and how you can avoid arguments with your partner.

Be Reasonable

The first thing to ensure if you’re going to avoid arguments is that you’re being fair and reasonable. When you’ve waited your whole life to get married, you of course want it to go your way – but remember that the most important aspect of that is that you get married to someone who still loves you. Ask yourself whether you’re giving them as many decisions as you’re taking for yourself, and whether you’d be happy if the roles were reverse. If you’re winning every dispute, then make sure that you give them something to compensate.

Promote Calmness

If you want to have a stress and argument free wedding, then you should plan it that way as much as possible right from the start. In other words, try to keep the costs down, make sure that there are lots of moments where everyone can just enjoy themselves rather than being rushed from one thing to the next. The more manageable your day is, the more chance there will be of it all going well.

Delegate

Here’s a quick way to make the planning less stressful – just don’t do all of it yourself. By hiring wedding planners, florists and other professionals, you can take a bit of the pressure off of yourself and you can introduce an objective third party to help make decisions and settle disputes. This makes a big difference, so don’t try to skip it in order to save money.

Divide Jobs

For the remaining small tasks, splitting up the things you have to do and having areas that you can work autonomously in can also help to avoid arguments. Give your partner invitations to send then for instance, and then just make sure that you aren’t always chipping in.

Find Things You Can Both Get Really Excited About

You might find a lot of things that you disagree on when you’re planning your big day, but of course there will always be those things that you’re both super excited about too. Try to focus on those things, and try to find more like them. That might mean riding in a wedding limousine, or it might be booking your amazing honeymoon. This is a wedding after all – there’s an awful lot to be excited about.

Nick Wallenda crossing Niagara Falls

by The Diva

Are you watching Nick Wallenda as he attempts to cross Niagara Falls on a Tight Rope? He’s just about to begin his walk across the falls and I think it’s going to be a nail bitter.

I actually thought about driving to the falls to see the historic event but I couldn’t talk my husband into it. We live close enough that we could have gone.

I haven’t watched any daredevil acts like this on TV for quite a while but this is worth it. I wonder if he has any insurance! I’d image that he couldn’t even get commercial insurance with the stunts he does …

I certainly hope he’s successful. Ok .. he’s about to start. I must go so that I can watch. Go Nick! Good Luck!

I’m so tired of this

by The Diva

Hmmm I think I’m going to give up on waiting for my husband to come home. He’s been away all weekend and as far as I know -at least according to his call at 1 pm he was going to be home sometime this afternoon. However, here it is already 7 pm and I haven’t heard from him in 6 hours so I think it’s safe to say that I might as well eat alone.

Something I do most weekends lately. I’m getting tired of this.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if he calls in a little while and says he’s too tired to come home or that his parents want him to do something for them so he’s staying overnight. He’s done that many times. I’m really not happy living like this anymore and I can’t wait for this to be over. We’re sort of living separate lives – we just need to officially make it official. In the meantime I need to get back to work and start pushing around both computer carts and medication carts. I need to earn money and keep busy .. get my life back.

Exploring all the new features on my cellphone

by The Diva

I was playing around with my cellphone the other day. I had uploaded some pictures and videos that I had taken onto my computer from the cellphone and then I noticed that there was a major software update for my phone. So … I spent some time updating the software and then updating it some more. Luckily everything went ok!

Naturally once everything was updated I decided to explore all of the new features that were now on my cellphone. It’s a Nokia N8 BTW and it just got Symbian Anna. I know there’s yet another update that some people are getting but it’s not in my area yet.

The new maps are very cool so I decided to try them out when I was walking the dog. It was a very cold day so the gps was a little slow calculating my route when I made turns that it didn’t anticipate but otherwise it worked great. I really hadn’t used that feature or the maps for driving before, but I should because, well with this phone I don’t need a separate GPS navigation device.

Now I want to find new apps to download onto my phone. I was looking at an app that’s similar to Instagram earlier today that I might put on my phone. Watch my tweets for some cool pictures soon!

Have you investigated all of the cool features on your smartphone? There’s just so much stuff isn’t there?

Quick visit – busy weekend

by The Diva

My in-laws called last night and now they are here in Toronto for a quick weekend visit.

My father in law used to be more spontaneous than he is now, but I think this weekend he truly was spontaneous. He heard from a woman that he knows that a church here in Toronto was holding a special ceremony in honor of the Irish famine (as in the famine that brought my grandfather here and so on) and he decided that he had to attend so he and my mother in law are in the city for the weekend.

Unfortunately their visit didn’t quite mesh with my husbands work schedule. He’s just starting to do a bit of work on the weekends and he had to work this evening so he spent a bit of time with them this afternoon visiting his uncle in a nursing home but then he had to go to work. They were too tired to do much this evening after their long day. My mother in law doesn’t like to drive after dark … otherwise she’d be out looking for Wholesaleinsurance.net or something! Tomorrow is going to be a busy day so I guess we’ll all just get together tomorrow maybe for breakfast, then to see my husbands uncle again and then off to the church for the special ceremony and reception.

At some point we have to get groceries tomorrow too … hmm maybe in the evening when Chris’ parents drive back home? Maybe.
