Don’t you hate pop up attacks on your computer

by The Diva

My nephew is visiting this evening. He comes into Toronto a few days each week to do Extra work on movies and TV series etc and sometimes when he has back to back work he’ll stay over at our house for the night.

Usually he joins us for dinner and then sits with us watching TV in the evening. Of course both he and I have our Laptops in front of us as we work on our computers and watch TV at the same time. LOL

I don’t know what website he was on tonight but all of a sudden he said “Whoa!” His computer must have had a pop up attack. You know when you get a pop up from a web site (even if you have your browser set to no popups) and then you go and close the popup and another one and and another one opens up until you just have to shut down your computer?

Everything was popping up on his computer from ads for games and download sites to the best male enhancement products LOL.

I don’t know why that happens. I mean, he has anti-virus software on his computer.

Helping relatives move

by The Diva

My husband just left to go and help his cousin and his wife move into an apartment.

I’m not quite sure what happened, but they had a house outside the city and I guess they got into some money troubles and had to sell. Their house was on the market for at least six months and just sold about two weeks ago and now, his cousin is moving back into the city. I’m not exactly sure why their moving so quickly .. maybe their house had a fast closing date?

Anyway .. usually I would help with a move, but I’m just not feeling all that well today. So I’m staying home with our dog and my husband is running around helping with the heavy lifting. Hmmm maybe I got the better deal?

I think my husband’s cousin is going to be changing job soon too. He’s been working for a company that transfers data to microfishe … but I think that’s fazing into digital. He mentioned something about getting into Forex trading the last time I talked to him. I think he bought some Forex trading software and he’s been teaching himself how to use it in his spare time. Maybe he’ll figure out how to make some good money on the side – even if he doesn’t end up changing jobs.

Anyway … it’s a late day move … my husband just left the house at 3 pm! I have no idea when he’ll be home. I also think his aunt is feeding the gang. She mentioned something about making Chili when I was talking to her on the phone. Hmmm … maybe Chris can talk her into letting him bring some of her homemade chili home for me? She apparently makes delicious chili. Of course, it probably won’t sit all that well on my stomach … but then, nothing I eat this week has.

A lazy weekend

by The Diva

We’re just having a lazy weekend. We’ve been so busy over the last couple of weeks- traveling and having visitors stay over … it’s nice to try and have a quite weekend.

I say try … because it didn’t exactly work out that way. My husband wanted his cousin (who’s a manager at a Mercedes dealership) to check out our car so earlier this afternoon we took a drive out to his house and let him take the car out for a drive on the highway. Oh and we also took a trip to Costco while we were at it.

Our car got a passing grade from my husbands cousin. It handles well and he couldn’t find any problems with it. Good news!

When we first arrived at Costco I thought it was a mistake going there on a Saturday … we had to line up with our cart just to get in! I thought about looking for the nearest exit signs once I got in there it was so crowded! However, once we started shopping (I headed to the pharmacy first while they went to get some food) it went fast and when we were finished there was hardly anyone in line at the cash registers so I think we were in and out of Costco in half an hour. It might have been our fastest visit yet!

So far we have no plans for tomorrow and I like it that way. I think I’m going to sleep in and then maybe later in the day we’ll watch some movies. Like I said – it’s a lazy weekend!

What are you up to this weekend?

So many people battling cancer

by The Diva

It seems like I keep hearing about cancer almost every single day. Wouldn’t it be fantastic if researchers finally found a cure for all cancers?

A long time neighbor of ours just died of cancer last week. He’d been sick for some time, but I was still sad to hear that he’d passed away.

I also keep hearing about stars and even political figures who have cancer. The star of one of my favorite shows “Dexter” is fighting cancer right now, and I just got an email from our local Member of Parliament, Jack Layton, stating that he’s got prostate cancer. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that someone I know if fighting the rare cancer mesothelioma although I certainly hope that I don’t hear anymore news of cancer striking friends or family.

Do you find that you’re hearing about more friends, family or even your favorite television or movie stars having cancer?

Marriage Help – 8 Tips On How To Communicate Effectively In Your Marriage

by The Diva

Is it really possible to keep a marriage happy ever after?

To keep a marriage good you have to work on it. Both of you have to be ready to keep working on the relationship. To keep your relationship fresh and exciting, you will need a lot of tender loving care. There is always a giving and receiving in a relationship, if both of you are willing to do that, chances are high that your marriage will survive.

Apply these 8 tips on how to make your marriage work and you won’t have any problems:

1. It doesn’t matter if you have been together for a lot of years of if you just got married, to be able to build up a strong relationship you have to learn to communicate effectively. Try to listen to your partner to be certain that you are understanding what they are telling you. While talking to each other, give full attention to the conversation. It will help you greatly to understand them, when you are looking each other in the eyes when having a conversation. It is not enough to just listen to them. Show that you have everything understood that your partner has talked about.

2. Don’t suppose to know how your partner feels about something. It doesn’t mean if you like to do something, that they want to do it with you. Ask them! Don’t automatically assume they volunteer to do something with you, that you would like. Ask them first! Always give them the courtesy to see if they want to do it.

3. Catch them doing something good. When you see him/her doing something nice, tell them – I got you! Then go ahead and tell them how much you appreciate it that they have been doing such a wonderful thing. You’ll be surprised how far a little appreciation goes. When you make an effort to let your partner know they made you happy, you will find they will try to repeat doing kind things for the recognition.

4. Is there something that you both enjoy doing? Then do it at least one time a week together. Take a class together, go hiking, fishing, read poetry to each other. Look for any shared interests and keep doing them as often as possible.

5. Be the best friend of your partner. When they are working on something they really want, always cheer them on. Be there for them when they need it and provide a shoulder to cry on if necessary. Share dreams and goals and work together. Let them know you are proud of them when they accomplish goals.

6. Don’t make the mistake to ignore your partner. Don’t let yourself be so involved in your own life that you forget to be nice to your partner. Kiss and hug them every day. Don’t hang out with your friends the whole weekend or watch TV. Make it a point to do something each weekend with your partner and you will grow closer together and have more in common to talk about.

7. It is very important that you “never go to bed angry”, this might be hard sometimes, but it is vital. Once you let an anger simmer for too long, it becomes much easier to come to a full boil and before you know it, you never work out any problems you just go to bed or leave the house to avoid them. Learn to agree to disagree if need be to keep the peace. But this is only working if you are really honest with yourself and you are sure that its ok to agree to disagree, specifically when it is a smaller problem. Don’t waste time being angry about the small things.

8. It is OK to admit you are wrong. If you were wrong, admit it. Your pride will not keep you warm at night and a bad marriage is a high price to pay for it.

You can live together in harmony despite your individual differences. Practice these things and be sure to work out any fights before you go to bed.

Love and cherish each other. Build a strong bond by being loving and honest with each other. This will help you to make your marriage work.
