7 Reasons Why You Should Buy A Swimming Pool

by Trish

When you were young and dreamt about your ideal home, the chances are that you always had a swimming pool in those images. It sets off a luxury home nicely and really comes in handy on those hot summer afternoons. In reality, the swimming pool is an incredibly useful commodity to have in your family home. If you were thinking about the pros and cons of having a pool installed, please read this article for some factual information.

Home Value

Adding value to your home is never a bad thing, but it should be considered when you are worried about the initial cost of your chosen pool. There are some home buyers that will only consider looking at houses with attached swimming pools. They tend to have more money available for their next purchase, why not include your address on their ‘must see’ list?

Beauty

If you are not thinking about moving anytime soon, you will still have the added benefit of living in a beautiful and luxurious property. Just relaxing next to the pool is enough to left your spirits on a hard day. Every time you look out of the window for some inspiration…there it is!

Fitness

Swimming is one of the best ways to keep in shape, and this has been proven many times. Instead of driving down to the busy gym, why not strip off and do a few lengths of your very own pool? You are much less likely to get injured in this ‘soft’ environment and will be able to relax without worrying about getting in someone’s way.

Family Bonding

A happy family is a healthy family, and you get the best of both worlds with your own swimming pool. As well as the exercise option, you can have a fun game of water polo and top up on your tans. You will never get bored of the pool as it can be used for so many activities.

Children’s Health And Safety

Your children’s health is one of the most important concerns in any parent’s life. With your own swimming pool, you can help them to stay fit, with the added bonus of ensuring they learn how to swim properly. Exercise can often be tiresome, but swimming is always thought of as an opportunity to have some fun with your loved ones and friends. You never know when your children may need their swimming skills in the future.

Entertainment

If you fancy inviting some friends and family over for a party, why not base it around your pool? Just fire up the barbeque and get some lively sounds blasting out, you could re-enact your last tropical holiday together! Get some decent lights installed and you could be throwing some memorable evening poolside events for the whole neighborhood.

Balance And Stress

If you add a daily swim to your daily routine, you will be adding a very healthy factor to your lives. You can de-stress after a hectic day at the office, or massage your partner in the relaxing luxury of your own swimming pool.

Top Feng Shui Tips For The Bedroom

by Trish

Our bedrooms were designed for two activities: rest and romance. However, our busy lifestyles, coupled with the need to constantly multi-task or exercise, has rendered the bedroom more of an extension of the office or the gym than a haven for rejuvenation. The ubiquitous television has furthered reduced the bedroom to a gathering place for strangers rather than a sanctuary for solitude.

By using the principles of Feng Shui, we can restore our bedrooms to the heavens they were intended to be as well as increase our vitality, our health and the quality of our romantic relationships.

The First Easy Steps

Remove electronics

Feng Shui for the bedroom begins with removing all electronic and electrical devices from the bedroom, especially the television. If there is a need for an alarm clock, then place it as far from the bed as possible. However, all other electronic and electrical devices need to be removed from the room, including the telephone.

Electronic devices emit electrical signals even when they are turned off. These signals interfere with your sleep cycles as well as the energy in the room. Removing these interferences will result in more restful sleep.

Clear the Air

Another easy step is to open the windows every day so that energy in the room does not stagnate. This can also be accomplished by the use of a ceiling fan, but don’t use the fan while you’re sleeping.

Assume the positions

The principles of Feng Shui state that certain positions and styles of furniture are better than others. For example, the bed should:

• Not be placed under the window because this weakens your energy.

• Be placed against a solid wall.

• Not be in line with the door, which is called the coffin position, although the door should be plainly visible.

• Not be placed underneath overhead beams as this symbolizes the possibility of death.

Headboards should be made of wood rather than metal; padded headboards are also acceptable. There should be ample free space under the bed in order to facilitate the free flow of energy.

Sharp corners should be avoided in Feng Shui because rounded shapes facilitate the free flow of energy whereas sharp corners block it.

Mirrors facing the bed are verboten in Feng Shui. The energy leaves the body at night and will be startled if it sees itself reflected in the mirror; this will cause restless sleep or nightmares. Large mirrors are also thought to promote infidelity.

The Finish Line

Keep your bedroom free of clutter.

Displayed items should be kept to a minimum and only displayed in pairs. In other words, use two candles, two nightstands, and so forth. This promotes the concept of a couple whereas a single item promotes the concept of singlehood. However, twin mattresses should be avoided because this promotes separation. Try to use symbolic items, such as the endless knot, that promote the relationship.

Avoid having an aquarium in the bedroom as the movement of the water will promote the perpetual movement of energy in the room and will result in restless sleep. Plants and flowers promote the very active yang energy so they should be avoided as well.

Your bedroom should be relatively quiet and only items that pertain to you and your partner should be in it. Pictures of friends and relatives should be displayed elsewhere. Use cool and soothing colors such as tones of beige, green, blue and lavender and avoid bright colors such as red, vivid purple and so forth, as these promote the movement of energy rather than tranquility.

By using the concepts of Feng Shui in your bedroom, you can revitalize your romance as well as your individual energy and restore your bedroom to the haven it was meant to be!

Time to relax

by The Diva

I’m trying to relax this weekend. This past week was fairly busy. I’ve been working to get my house in order – cleaning and sorting things out, getting taxes done and on top of that I’ve also been busy trying to get my old job back. I had appointments with my family doctor and the Occupational health doctor at my workplace this past week and it looks like in a couple of weeks I may very well be working in the Emergency Ward again. Yeah!

I also saw an old friend for a little while this week too. Man his place was a mess! I guess he’s become a bit of weight lifter or something in his spare time. There was exercise equipment in one corner, magazines and xenadrine ripped reviews. He looked good though so I guess it’s working for him. He has the absolute cutest little dog. I have to get my dog and his dog to meet. I’m sure they’ll get along famously!

Ok … as I said … time to relax, that’s what the weekend is for after all isn’t it? And if I’m going to be going back to work again sometime soon I’m not going to have that many weekends left anymore because I’ll be working at least every second weekend.

Medication related skin problems

by The Diva

No matter what I do it seems that my skin is getting worse and worse. I don’t know why it’s causing me so many problems lately.

I really think it’s the medications that I’ve been taking since last summer for my migraines. The medication somehow prevents me from sweating and that seems to really interfere with my skins health … it’s like my skin actually needs to sweat a little bit to stay healthy and clear. I guess I need to do some more research on how to get rid of pimples at least when on this particular medication.

Do you ever have medication related skin problems? What did you do about it?
