My house smells like cigars – and I’m a non smoker!

by The Diva

I’m a non smoker trying to live temporarily with two smokers. It’s not working out that well. Not for me that is.

I’ll tell you what happened. I was a smoker. I quit smoking close to two years ago. So did my husband.

However, sometime last fall or so my husband started sneaking smokes and thought he was fooling me. As if I wouldn’t know he was smoking again. I have a super sensitive sense of smell – no not just since I quit smoking, it was there before I quit and it’s very very acute. I could smell the cigarette on him almost as soon as he began smoking again but I didn’t tell him that I knew he was smoking until this past February. Now he smokes open, but only outside.

I think he smokes more now that I know he’s smoking again .. and he smells more.

So now we have this “guest” staying at our house. I knew he was a smoker when he was coming to stay but what I didn’t know was that he smoked cigars pretty much 99% of the time. He goes out buying cigars almost daily! He’s moved in temporarily and now my house smells like cigars because all of his stuff smells like cigars!

He doesn’t smoke his cigars in our house .. but like I said, he smells like cigars and so does everything he owns and that’s gradually seeping in to everything in my home … I’m not liking it.

The next time we get a border … it will be a 100% non smoker!

A mass of guitar equipment

by The Diva

I’m sure anyone that’s been reading this blog or any or my other blogs regularly knows that I’m back in renovation mode these days. Along with renovating our house comes cleaning and clearing out rooms so that work can be done. It’s amazing the stuff that can accumulate in a house over the years isn’t it.

My husband is a musician and I didn’t realize it, but he has musical equipment all over the house! Guitars, cords, microphones, music stands, music books, mbox interface equipment, amplifiers, guitar peddles and so on. There’s so much musical equipment I don’t even think he was aware of how much he had. Perhaps it’s time for him to take a good hard look at what’s here and if he’s not using it maybe we should have a yard sale or sell some it online or something.

I don’t know – perhaps he won’t go for that idea, but we have a lot of clutter and something needs to be done about it! Clutter wise he has more than me.

I’m so tired of this

by The Diva

Hmmm I think I’m going to give up on waiting for my husband to come home. He’s been away all weekend and as far as I know -at least according to his call at 1 pm he was going to be home sometime this afternoon. However, here it is already 7 pm and I haven’t heard from him in 6 hours so I think it’s safe to say that I might as well eat alone.

Something I do most weekends lately. I’m getting tired of this.

I wouldn’t even be surprised if he calls in a little while and says he’s too tired to come home or that his parents want him to do something for them so he’s staying overnight. He’s done that many times. I’m really not happy living like this anymore and I can’t wait for this to be over. We’re sort of living separate lives – we just need to officially make it official. In the meantime I need to get back to work and start pushing around both computer carts and medication carts. I need to earn money and keep busy .. get my life back.

It seems to be TV night

by The Diva

We’re just having a lazy night watching TV. I always use the PVR to tape our favorite TV shows so we’re just catching up on some of this weeks shows this evening. Right now we’re watching Big Bang. It’s such a funny show. I just love all of the characters on the show. Each one is great. Oh and Sheldon in particular is hilarious and I love his funny t shirts – I check each show to see which one he’s wearing.

I’m not sure how much longer my husband is going to last for this TV night though .. he’s been falling asleep since 8:30! I don’t know why he’s so tired.

What are your favorite shows? Do you like Big Bang Theory too?

Back to the old grind

by The Diva

Another weekend, another day cleaning up the basement. Sigh … I guess I can’t complain, I’ve escaped cleaning and sorting out the mess in the basement all week and even last weekend. I know I should be working on it a little bit each day, but my husband made a good portion of the mess down there and he hasn’t been around to help so I don’t feel like I should have to do all the work on my own. However, if it’s ever going to get done I think I’m going to have to do most of it.

We were supposed to work on the basement together today and as I just explained in my last post my husband made a mistake with his work schedule and he ended up getting called in to work since he really was supposed to be working this evening. So … I went downstairs to do a bit of work on my own.

I’m just sorting through small stuff and deciding what to keep or throw out. I’m finding all kinds of things down there – birthday cards that we bought as extras and didn’t use, little collector toys from restaurants like McDonalds, even some testors paint from a model project Chris did with his nephew a few years ago. There’s so much to sort through! I think I’m going to have a headache soon! LOL

Ok back to work.
