More delays in renovating and cleaning

by The Diva

My husband was supposed to have several days off this week but it hasn’t turned out that way. He ended up working ten hours today and now someone has called in sick at work for tomorrow so he’s going to be working tomorrow. I guess we won’t be getting some of our renovations and basement cleaning done as we’d planned.

We were going to continue to finish cleaning the basement tomorrow. Chris has a lot of his music equipment in the basement. Not his guitars, but other things like his K&M Stands, his music books, his favorite stools to sit on when playing guitar on the road and so on. All of that stuff needs to be organized.

It’s amazing how much music related stuff has accumulated in our home in the time we’ve been together! Oh well, maybe we’ll sort out all this stuff on the weekend or next week.

I’m starting to wonder about my new neighbors

by The Diva

I’m really starting to wonder what’s up with our new neighbors. They’ve owned the house next door to us for close to 6 months now and they still haven’t moved in.

If they were doing constant renovations I could understand why they haven’t moved in yet, but they only seem to come to the house lately every three weeks or so and only for few hours.

When they first got the keys to the house they started rewiring the house. The house has or had old Knob and Tube wiring and he’s ever so slowly replacing it with up to date wiring … but 6 months? Whiles he’s been doing that, she’s been stripping the paint off the molding in each room and the front door.

From the look of things I think they’ve punched holes and done work in pretty much each room of the house … so even if they did want to move in their house is in no way ready to move in. LOL

Maybe they’re feeling a little in over their heads? I mean, when they first bought the house they were coming by to work on the house every weekend – All day Saturday and Sunday. However, like I said above now they’re only coming by once every three weeks or so for a few hours.

I’m actually starting to wonder if they’re really going to move in or if they’re starting to think of their house as an income property. I sure hope they don’t rent it out. We’ve had it with living beside renters!

Anyway, they did come by earlier today for a couple of hours and they had something with them that looked like I don’t know … one of those commercial pumps. I have no idea what they’d be using that for, but that’s what it looked like. Gee I hope they aren’t about to tear out the plumbing or pipes and the pump is for the flooding they’re expecting. LOL

What would you think if you had new neighbors that barely came to their new house in the 6 months that they owned it? I think it’s kind of strange.

When will the new neighbors move in?

by The Diva

I think our new neighbors might move in sometime soon. They’ve had possession of the house next door for about two weeks now and they’ve been coming by to clean and paint the house.

I’m not sure what they’re doing as far as renovating or repair the house goes. I’ve heard a lot of hammering and banging, but it doesn’t seem like they are doing a lot of new work. unlike us when we got our house – we were at our house every day for three weeks tearing down walls, refinishing floors, plastering and painting before we finally moved in … whereas our new neighbors have only visited their new home about four times since they got the key.

Anyway, since it doesn’t seem like they’re doing a lot of work to the house I expect that they must be almost done cleaning and painting so maybe they’ll move in this weekend. If not perhaps the following weekend. It can’t be much longer.

One thing that I liked about moving to our house when we got it was that it was a chance to get new furniture. LOL I loved preparing the rooms and then picking out new contemporary furniture that would look great in each room. As it turned out we didn’t have to buy a lot of new furniture as we had quite a bit in our apartment, but I did get to get all new master bedroom furniture and a year later we got new living room furniture.

We haven’t talked to the new neighbors very much, but they seem nice enough. That’s all I’m hoping for anyway … I mean, we have to share a tiny driveway and our houses are very close to each other so it’s important that we’re at least on friendly terms with our neighbors. Hey … they’ve got to be better than the awful renter neighbors that we’ve had to deal with for the last year.
