New houses going up fast

by The Diva

There’s a lot of construction going on in my neighborhood. It seems that any house that used to be a bungalow is being purchased and turned into a two or three story home.

The house down the street, one that used to have very undesirable renters in it for several years, has been torn down and in it’s place two three story houses are going up in it’s place. Apparently the man who owned the former home has been trying to get permission from the city to rebuild there for years – and probably trying to get his renters out for that long too.

Anyway once he finally got permission and got his renters out it seemed the houses went up in no time at all. I think they tore down the old house in March or April and the new houses are up and just about finished already. There’s even signs on the property trying to sell the houses – I’m assuming at some future date when they expect them to be finished. Man that was fast.

Of course there’s still lots of work going. From my house I can see everything from Cement trucks going back and forth to back hoes and a used skid steer and several other pieces of heavy machinery.  I’m just glad that it’s way down the street so I don’t have to hear all the noise!

Parking problems on our street

by The Diva

There’s a lot of cars parking on our street lately. I think it’s because so many people are renting either their homes or rooms in their homes. Naturally each renter seems to have a car so each house has multiple cars and the street has become overcrowded with parked cars.

Our street, or actually the street across from us is also one of the only ones in the area that people can park in without having to have a permit so people that don’t live on the block park here regularly too. One of the people that doesn’t belong on the street, who tends to park and right in front of my house is a van that has a logo for hayward pool heater parts on it. I’ve only been seeing it in the last month or so, but it’s been here regularly. Last fall it was a deck company.

Does your street get a lot of parking on it too? Does it bother you? I don’t mind as long a I can find parking. Every second month we have our shared driveway and then on the odd months we park on the street, but usually we’re ok parking wise.

A call that wasn’t what I thought it would be

by The Diva

We got a call last week, early in the morning from our former neighbors son. The first thing to run through my mind when I saw who was calling was that our former elderly neighbor had died and they were calling us to tell us that they were in the midst of funeral planning.

I was wrong. It was about the people that they’re renting our former neighbors house too … yeah those awful scum of the earth people next door to us! They haven’t been paying their rent for months and I guess our former neighbors family finally won their case and are allowed to evict them. Yeah!!! So we’re just sitting tight hoping that those awful people will be gone soon.

I’m certainly glad that our former neighbor is still alive. She’s had about three strokes in the last two years though and she must be about 89 years old though … so I have a feeling that she won’t be around for much longer.
