My new portable air conditioner

by The Diva

I’m finally using my portable air conditioner / dehumidifier. I think I mentioned back in May or maybe early June that when I was shopping in Costco I noticed they had them on sale for a fantastic price and I decided to get one.

We don’t have central air conditioning in our house so we use window air conditioners in the summer to cool our home. These are cumbersome to install and remove each year. So naturally when I saw the portable air conditioner on sale I thought it might be easier to use. Of course it’s still pretty heavy, but it’s on wheels and if I keep it on the same floor that I’m using it on I won’t ever have to lift it – at least not in to a window!

Anyway .. we finally managed to get it out the box. It took a while to remove all the strapping tape and then read the directions and put the pieces together. The worse part was cutting the window opening part for the exhaust tubes. It’s working now though.

I can’t say that it’s cooler or better than our window units. In fact I’d say it might be noisier than our window units because of the floor vibrations, but it works and thankfully if one of our window units dies (hopefully not) we have a spare air conditioner now!

Time to finish my Christmas shopping

by The Diva

I have to go out Christmas shopping this weekend. I’ve got a little bit of my shopping done, but not all of it – not even close!

I should have actually done some Christmas shopping last weekend. I met with several of my family members on Sunday at a restaurant in a large mall here in Toronto – Yorkdale mall and then a few of us did walk around a few stores. I didn’t buy anything, but considering we were in such a huge mall it would have been a great opportunity.

Hmmm Now that I think about it, I saw some justin boots that might make a great gift for my brother. Perhaps I should go back to that mall this weekend? Anyway wherever I go I must shop shop shop and shop some more.

It would be great to get everything on my list. I hate shopping in the week or two just before Christmas when the stores are really crowded. It’s just crazy in the stores. Actually I suppose tomorrow will be crazy in all the stores in the United States considering it’s Black Friday.

How are you doing with your holiday shopping? Are you done? Have you started? Are you dreading shopping?

Getting supplies for my dog

by The Diva

Over the weekend my husband and I made a visit to our local pet store. It was time to get our Labrador Retriever her big bag of dog food and her favorite cookie treats.

The store was having a sale so we walked around looking at everything just in case there was something else that we might want to get for our dog. We didn’t find anything else to buy for her, but as we walked around I was amazed at how many products they had for pets of all kinds. I mean, they even had horse tack I believe!

Sometime in the new year I guess we’ll buy our dog some Nylabones for power chewers. She goes through at least one bone every two or three months. I swear she’s addicted to her nylabone as she brings it with her everywhere she goes. LOL

Do you make a regular visit to the pet store to pick up supplies for your pet? How often do you go?

My bed makes my back hurt

by The Diva

I think my husband and I are going to be shopping for a new bed sometime in the near future.

We just helped our neighbors get a new mattress into their house and that only served to remind me that I haven’t had a good nights sleep in our bed for a long time. Each morning I wake up with a sore back.

I think it’s time we got a new mattress as well.

I’d actually love to take a look at a memory foam mattress. I’ve slept in a bed with a memory foam mattress once or twice and I found it very comfortable.

We can’t afford a new mattress right now, but perhaps in the new year, when everything is on sale – maybe then we’ll be able to get a new mattress and I’ll be able to have a comfortable good sleep.
