I hate getting stuck in slow lines

by The Diva

Don’t you hate when you go out shopping and you get stuck in the slow line at the cash?

That happened to me earlier today. I went out this afternoon to do some shopping and after I’d picked out my items at the store I got in line to pay for my items. There was only one person ahead of me so I thought I’d get out of the store quickly. Boy was I wrong!

It’s not that the person ahead of my was slow – counting pennies or anything like that. No. You see the cashier was trying out a new bar code scanner … a Symbol LS2208 or something like that, and the manager was with her as she tested out the new equipment.

From what I could tell the scanner was working fine, but the manager kept making her use it over and over again, redoing the person ahead of me’s bill etc. Before I knew it I had a line of complaining people behind me who were also tired of waiting in line.

It would have been nice if the manager picked a quieter time in the store to test out the new scanner.

All the time I was standing in that line I kept worrying that my parking meter’s time was going to run out. It would figure I’d get a ticket … luckily that didn’t happen though. I made it back to the car just two minutes before the meter ran out.

London Has The Best Shopping In Britain

by The Diva

The capital city of England is London, which is as famous for its shopping as it is for its history and culture. People from all over the world flock to London to sample the wonderful stores and markets on offer.

Covent Garden has become known for its unusual and specialist shops, and has become a very hip place to be seen. There are a number of excellent restaurants in Covent Garden not just excellent shops. The original Covent Garden market dates back to the middle ages, and up until 1980 was famous for its stalls of fresh fruit, vegatables and flowers.

Camden Market is now one of the most popular places to visit in London. There has been a markets here in Camden for a long time, but in its present status only since 1974. The market is actually a group of adjoining markets selling wares of most things one could possibly think of.

The Kings Road is known as Chelsea’s high street, and one of the most chic and stylish streets to shop in London. Back in the 1970s the Kings Road was closely associated with ‘Punks’, who proved to be an attraction in London themselves. However, the Kings Road is more subdued these days and no longer just a haunt of the followers of the anti-fashion era.

Sloane Street is a street in London which runs north to south, and takes its name from Sir Hans Sloane, who purchased the surrounding area in 1712. Sloane Street has has, for a long time, been a fashionable shopping district, but is probably just as well known for lending it name to the ‘Sloane Rangers’ in the 1990s. The name Sloane Ranger was applied to the stereotypical young upper class English ladies seen in the area during this time. (One famous woman often referred to as a Sloane Ranger was Lady Diana Spencer)

Harrods department store in Knightsbridge is the worlds largest department store standing on 18,000 m2. The Harrods motto is ‘Omnia Omnibus Ubique’  meaning all things for all people, everywhere’. A very exclusive and luxurious department store, Harrods is famous the world over for its food hall and its toy department.

Another famous London department store is Selfridges in Oxford Street. In 1909 and american businessman called Gordon Selfridge opened the doors of his London shop to the public which is simply known as “Selfridges”. When it opened Selfridges set new standards for the retailing business. The reason being that each of the floors were designed so that the shopper was able to access the goods on sale more easily.

The shops in London are as diverse as its culture and no matter how bizarre ones shopping requirements, it can be found in London. Whether you like to shop in department stores or prefer to rummage through the markets, London has it all.

Try some of these Cheap Outdoor Wedding Ideas

by The Diva

Are you looking for some Economic Wedding ideas that won’t compromise the beauty and elegance of your ceremony and reception?  Are you afraid that an outdoor wedding means that everyone will be in blue jeans and sneakers and will be playing volleyball for fun?  Are you assuming that cheap outdoor wedding ideas will mean that your wedding will have all the grace, charm and elegance of a go-kart track?  While there’s certainly nothing wrong with go-karts and if you and your groom are the fun and whimsical type who want that type of wedding, we say go for it, but for many brides they want an outdoor wedding that is still beautiful and romantic.

So what are some cheap Budget Wedding?  Of course if you live near an ocean you can plan a ceremony on the beach or your favorite cliff.  It’s vitally important to be mindful of safety especially if children will be present, and remember that not everyone enjoys being in the sun so of course you should provide some tents or canopies for shade.Sometimes people end of looking at private boathouses or even a friends personal dock which makes a great place for an outdoor wedding.  But for those who aren’t much for the beach or don’t live near one, there are other cheap outdoor wedding ideas you can try.

Many historical homes allow for elegant but Budget Wedding ideas and many even have wedding packages available to you.  They may offer a ballroom or garden area for the ceremony and a large dining hall for the reception and include catering, the cake, decorations, and so on.  These places are typically very beautiful and offer a charm and elegance that you can’t find anywhere else.  Other cheap outdoor wedding ideas might include renting a boat for the ceremony and having the reception either on board if it’s large enough or back at the dock where there is a restaurant.  Of course if you know someone with a home and yard that’s large enough, then you may have your cheap outdoor wedding ideas in place already.A platform or even a gazebo down by the water make great places to have ceremony’s.You can easily rent folding chairs for the ceremony and then just quickly move them and re-use them at the rented table for the reception.

Of course sometimes cheap outdoor wedding ideas will mean sacrificing some things you expected at your wedding.  They can mean having to scale down the guest list to just close friends and family.Sometimes if you are outside for your wedding you may not have access to a full kitchen which may limit the food you can serve.Even thought this outdoor wedding idea may sound good, it will also bring its own special problems like the weather outside being extremely hot or extremely rainy.  But with some extra work and planning you will find that your simple outdoor ceremony can actually be the most elegant as well.
