Wracking my brain trying to fix my laptop

by The Diva

Wow, I can’t believe that I’ve spent something like 9 days trying to fix my laptop!

I thought I’d finally figured out what was wrong and fixed it completely two days ago and then I got the black screen of death and audioses.dll error messages. Now I’m working with my old laptop which is slow as molasses, but still faster than my “new” laptop which takes 45 minutes to load. I’ve been trying to fix the audioses.dll driver problem … but if I can’t get it fixed in the next two hours or so I think I’m going to finally give in and wipe the hard drive and re-install windows.

I’m so thankful that I made recovery disks when the new Laptop arrived back in February! I just hope that they work!

Man if I were a drinker (I’m not I’m not!) I think I’d be looking for some effective alcohol rehab treatment centers!

Seriously … I’m surprised that I’m not bald and that I’m still sane after the week I’ve had trying to fix my computer. When my husband came home yesterday after being out of town for three days he asked me how he could help and I told him he could help me roll the car over and over the laptop. Yes at that point I was losing it … but the black screen of death had just made it’s first appearance after I thought I’d fixed the computer once and for all so I think that was understandable.

Wish me luck on fixing the computer!

Noisy Neighbor Syndrome

by The Diva

I feel like I’ve barely been getting any sleep over the last few months. Actually I don’t just feel like I haven’t been getting much sleep, I know I haven’t been. I have noisy neighbor syndrome.

What’s noisy neighbor syndrome you ask? Well I’d imagine that you can guess what it is if you try. We live in a semi detached house so our neighbors house is attached to ours – just on the other side of ours. In other words there is a common wall between our two homes and likely due to the fact that our neighbors have hardwood floors we can hear all the jumping and running around that their two year old daughter does every single day from 7 in the morning until sometimes as late as midnight.

I have chronic pain due to Crohn’s Disease and other illnesses so I don’t sleep well to begin with and lately it seems that whenever I am just about to fall asleep my neighbors daughter starts up with her noise. So yeah … noisy neighbor syndrome … Anyone know how to remove dark circles ’cause unless I start getting a good sleep I think the dark circles under my eyes are going to become permanent.

I’m so exhausted

by The Diva

I feel like I’ve spent most of this year exhausted. Actually I’ve been exhausted since November. I could sleep in the afternoon … heck, sometimes I think I could go to bed about half an hour after I get up in the morning.

I’m certain there’s something wrong … but so far nothing is showing up. I do have a bad thyroid. I only have half a thyroid and I take thyroid replacement hormone but according to my blood work my levels are fine.

Back in December my family doctor told me she thought I had seasonal affective disorder. I’m certain I don’t have is my symptoms really don’t fit with SAD other than the extreme tiredness. For example I’m also very cold most of the time and that fits better with thyroid disease. Anyway .. desperate to help myself I went out and bought a SAD light and I’ve been using it for 30 minutes a day and I do feel a tiny bit better but only as I say a tiny bit better.

Honest, I won’t be needing a sleeping pill any time soon. More likely I’ll be needing a wake up pill!

It’s been four months of extreme tiredness. I’m hoping that the sleepiness will just gradually go away because my doctor certainly isn’t looking for a cause. If it doesn’t go away by say the end of March I’m either going to insist that she do more tests or send me to another doctor.

Trying to get motivated again

by The Diva

Do you remember the posts I was writing in the Autumn about how I was losing weight quickly? How it was because of a new migraine medication that I was taking? Well … something strange started happening with my body in November and early December and I started gaining the weight that I’d lost back again.

I’m at a loss as to what to do. I’d love to lose the weight again. It was so nice! Maybe I should start reading lipozene review or something? Actually I do have an elliptical machine and I’ve been thinking of pulling it out and starting to use it again. I’ve been really tired lately so finding the energy to do this might be difficult but I’ve got to try.

I’ll keep you posted as to how the weight lose goes.

More house guests? Again? Ahhhhh!

by The Diva

A simple question – do you love it or do you hate it when the in-laws call at the last minute and say they are coming for a visit? Oh and by visit I mean, they plan to come for the day but end up staying overnight.

Why am I asking? Well … it seems that my in-laws are coming for visits more and more frequently and because they’re older they get tired and don’t always (read almost never) feel up to driving the hour and a half home again come evening so they become weekend guests.

I guess if I had more notice I might not mind so much, but often they call only the day of or the evening before their visit. So if the house isn’t clean or if I’m not feeling all that well I don’t have much time to prepare.

I just found that my in-laws are coming for a visit tomorrow. They’re packing in a full day of shopping, visiting two other relatives and then getting together with my husband and I so unless they’re full of energy tomorrow I can almost guarantee that they’ll end up staying overnight. Oh and when they come for a visit it’s not just my mother in law and father in law, it’s my husbands aunt as well … so both of our spare bedrooms get used and they take over the house, the fridge (with their shopping items) and move our things around … things that we use daily or even hourly! Grrrr

I guess that if they didn’t totally take over my home and basically turn my life upside down I wouldn’t mind so much, but that’s just not the case!

Oh and my brother was just visiting from Vancouver for the last week. He only left yesterday … and even though he’s the best house guest anyone could ask for .. I’m certainly not looking forward to having more house guests again so soon! I’d rather immerse myself in a search for good rates on term life insurance or the best cat litter than have another house guest right now. LOL

So back to my question – do you love it or hate when the in-laws come for a visit – especially a very short notice or no notice visit? I suspect that after reading this you’ll be able to guess what my answer is!
