Yosemite Park: A Vacation to Remember!

by The Diva

The lure of a vacation in Yosemite National Park attracts millions of people to central California every year.  Located in the heart of California, Yosemite National Park is easily accessible via highway or via Fresno International Airport, which lies a mere 61 miles from the south gate of the park.  While Yosemite is a popular destination year round, summers in Yosemite are especially appealing to travelers, coaxing more than three-million tourists annually.

A vacation in Yosemite holds something for everyone.  Each summer, dozens of campgrounds in the park are reserved months in advance, as tourists seek to take advantage of the natural beauty while on vacation in Yosemite.

Hiking is a popular reason that people often choose to take their vacation in Yosemite.  There are endless miles of hiking trails within the park which showcase it’s natural beauty. Yosemite also has also become one of the most popular destinations in North America for it’s rock climbing possibilities, and world famous El Capitan is a rock climbers dream come true.   If photography is a hobby, Yosemite provides countless opportunities to capture natures beauty in her most pscturesque and pristine form.

Although the summer months tend to attract the most amount of visitors to the park, fall & winter can also be an amazing time to vacation in Yosemite.  Most hotels in Yosemite are open through the winter, and some offer special events, such as the Bracebridge Dinner, Vintner’s Holidays, and Chef’s Holidays at the Ahwahnee Hotel.  Many people also fail to realize that Yosemite National Park is home to its very own downhill ski resort.  Badger Pass offers many acres of quality downhill skiing possibilities for the entire family to enjoy.  Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are popular as well on the trails near the Tenaya Lodge, where there is also an ice skating rink for visitors to enjoy.  And just as during the summer season, Yosemite in winter is a photographer’s paradise.

Whether guests choose to take their vacation in Yosemite National Park during the summer or winter season, one thing is for sure:  there are endless ways to enjoy this beautiful park!
